Schwung - MrDrums Module

MrDrums is a 16-pad drum sampler module for Schwung.

MrDrums gives you 16 pads with independent sample paths and per-pad controls for gain, pan, tune, start, envelopes, choke, chance, and randomization.

Quick Start

Install MrDrums from the Module Store.
Load MrDrums in a chain.
Open Pad Settings.
Select Sample and choose a .wav, .aif, or .aiff from:
- /data/UserData/UserLibrary/Samples
- /data/CoreLibrary/Samples
Play pads/notes (36..51).

By default, all pad sample paths are empty, so MrDrums is silent until you set at least one sample.

Prerequisites

Schwung installed on your Ableton Move
WAV or AIFF files available on device (recommended path below)

Master Vol: Overall output level.
Polyphony: Maximum active voices.
Velocity Curve: linear, soft, or hard.
Humanize: Random per-hit timing offset in milliseconds.
Random Seed: Static seed for repeatable randomization behavior.
Rand Loop Steps: Loop length for deterministic random sequences.

Pad Settings

Auto Select: When on, incoming pad notes change Current Pad.
Current Pad: Pad target for alias controls.
Sample: Per-pad WAV/AIFF file path.
Vol, Pan, Tune, Start

Choke, Mode (gate / oneshot)
Rand Pan, Rand Vol, Rand Decay
Chance

Start now uses native wav_position with normalized range 0.00..1.00 (start-to-end of the sample).

Pad aliases (for fast editing) map to the selected Current Pad while keeping all pXX_* values persisted per pad.

File Browser Behavior

For pad Sample:

Root path is /data, including UserLibrary and CoreLibrary.
start_path prefers last-used sample directory when available.
Live preview is enabled while browsing.
Auto-select can be suspended during browsing through configured browser hooks.

Installation

Module Store (recommended)

Install MrDrums from Schwung's Module Store.

Build from Source

Requires Docker (recommended) or ARM64 cross-compiler.

Install target:

Restart Schwung after install.

Loading Move Drum Kit Presets

MrDrums can load native Ableton Move drum kit presets (.ablpreset and device-preset .json) to populate all 16 pads at once.

From the root menu, select Load Preset.
Browse to a .ablpreset or .json file under Track Presets or elsewhere under /data.
Confirm — all 16 pad sample paths and their parameters (volume, pan, tune, start, attack, decay, choke group) are applied instantly.

Known preset sample URI mappings:

ableton:/user-library/... -> /data/UserData/UserLibrary/...
ableton:/packs/abl-core-library/... -> /data/CoreLibrary/...

Per-pad edits made after loading are not overwritten when restoring saved state — the preset path is remembered for browse scroll-restore only.

Single sample per pad (no layer stacks)
