Pixel Walkers
An animated pixel-art gravity MIDI sequencer for Schwung. Each played note becomes a tiny walker; every time it lands on a platform, the original note is retriggered on the selected Move track. It runs as a MIDI FX and makes no sound of its own, so place it before a Schwung synth.

Requires Schwung v1.3.0 or newer.
Controls
- Birth Note plays the note immediately when its walker appears.
- Birth Level scales the birth note's played velocity.
- Collision Level sets the first landing's velocity level.
- Collision Decay subtracts that amount on every later landing.
- Randomize Platforms creates a new layered, overlapping platform layout.
- Bounce controls physical restitution: higher values produce taller, longer-spaced first echoes and more increasingly rapid rebounds as energy fades.
- Hardness controls how much energy each rebound retains, ranging from a few soft-ball bounces to a twenty-bounce glassy echo series.
- Kill All immediately removes every walker and releases any notes it owns.
Landing on a different platform starts a fresh collision envelope. Its initial level is scaled by the distance fallen: short drops are quiet, while falls of twenty pixels or more use the full Collision Level.
Build and test
./scripts/test.sh
./scripts/build.sh
The ARM64 package is written to dist/pixel-walkers-module.tar.gz.
To install a development build on a reachable Move:
./scripts/install.sh
# Or, if mDNS is unavailable:
MOVE_HOST=ableton@10.0.0.x ./scripts/install.sh
Pixel Walkers uses Schwung's official standard-layout custom canvas and idle MIDI FX timer support, included in Schwung v1.3.0 and newer.
